Mr Mark Wyn Roberts, a long standing Dental Practitioner of Splott Road Dental Surgery has been suspended from practice after investigations revealed that his infection control measures were unsatisfactory reports Carol Cook.
It is alleged that Mr Roberts re-used dental instruments including files for completing root canal treatments and anaesthetic cartridges. As a result, over 3,000 patients have been contacted with a recommendation that they undergo testing for blood infections including Hepatitis and HIV.
Public Health Wales express that the risk of having contracted an infection of the blood is low and a helpline has been established for concerned patients.
Applebys Solicitors, having been instructed by a number of ex patients of Mr Roberts, consider that this is too little too late. The shock of receiving a letter through the post advising that there is a small but potential risk that you could be suffering from a potential life threatening disease is often too much to bare! Indeed, it may also be the case for some of Mr Robert’s patients that the level of care exercised whilst providing treatment was below the standard to be expected.
Applebys Solicitors are specialists in dealing with cases relating to dental care. This has included cases where equipment has been reused when it shouldn’t have been. A recent example of this included obtaining over £6,000 for a client who suffered psychological injury for having undergone tests to rule out blood infection.
If you have been affected by dental care provided by Mr Roberts then Applebys Solicitors may be able to help you secure compensation.
